Killed for a Gold Chain….

It’s a site you may not think may not happen, then again we don’t know what will happen in those situations. The thought process that may run through our mind. The state of shock.

Some stories that are in the news can cut us to the core, we feel the pain, the anger, the frustration, any emotion that represent our commonality. Sometimes we think that the world we live in, is not the world we would like to grow in, not the world we want our children and grandchildren to grow in. Those moments sometimes set us back.

Imagine a young man waiting to go to work, was rob and shot. Shot for a single gold chain he had on. They wanted his phone, he put up a little resistance but as they rode off, they shot him. A young man and his future put to an end, A youth who played football for his school, won championships. Developing his trade as an electrician, 20 years of age, an expecting future father.

It’s worse to think about the fact that he didn’t survive that single blow. The family that he left behind, as a person, the only thing you can ask is that the family get through the situation. It’s difficult to think about, comprehending the reality of it all.

Despite such a tragedy, why should anyone have to suffer for being in possession of something they would have worked for? Why should we be uncomfortable walking around with what is ours?

The answer maybe in the wilderness forever, however this is not the world I intend to have my offspring experience.

Collectively, more can be done, because the situation is a chain where each link must be dealt with starting with consistent programs that work on the mind of our nation.
